Perseverance Through the Writing Journey
Facing the Challenges of Writing…and Publishing a Memoir
Today, I felt a sense of defeat settling in. When I first set out to write my book—a memoir capturing part of my story—I was fueled by dreams and aspirations, truly believing it would be an easy path. The reality, however, is far more challenging than I ever expected. It feels like I aimed for the moon but, at this point, I’ve landed much closer to Taco Bell. And that’s okay.
Commitment to the Mission
Despite the setbacks, I remain determined to find a way to raise money and sell this book. My hope has always been that it would make a difference and help others see things we often overlook. No matter how difficult it gets, I refuse to give up. If I must, I’m willing to set up at a flea market or even sit outside a 7-11 just to sell copies and raise the funds needed.
Balancing Sacrifice and Support
There’s another layer to this journey: I probably devote more money and time to this book than I should—and I hope my husband doesn’t find out. Thankfully, he has an awesome, eclectic riding lawnmower and a shop full of tools to keep him busy. With any luck, those distractions will hold his attention until he notices my commitment to this project!
